Nawaz Sharif criticizes point-scoring tactics of the government

Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz Chief, Nawaz Sharif in his latest criticism said that the government was only interested in political point scoring, adding the issue of new provinces should be done with consensus.

Addressing a news conference during his visit to Sakardu, the PML-N chief accused the government of not being interested in addressing public issues, but in political point scoring tactics.

He said that he was the first leader to pay a visit to Giari, where as many as 140 people were buried under an avalanche that descended upon them more than 10 days ago.

Nawaz Sharif, the two-time former prime minister visited the world’s highest battleground, observed, “Tell me, if any perpetrators of the recent violence have been arrested yet”.

He raised a question referring to sectarian clashes, saying that the government should also take action against the killers of journalists Wali Khan Babar and Syed Saleem Shahzad. He was accompanied by Senator Mushahid Ullah, Marvi Memon, Mehtab Abbasi and Pervez Rasheed.

Following the news conference, Nawaz Sharif addressed a gathering of religious leaders of various schools of thought and party workers in Skardu. He continuing his verbal onslaught, saying the present government’s four years brought nothing but price hike, unemployment and lawlessness across the country.

He mocked the incumbent government’s call for a Seraiki province, saying that the government was not really concerned about the welfare of people but only point scoring. Commenting about the plight of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, he noted that he they were being victimized for voting the PPP into power.

Nawaz Sharif promised that his party would take up the issues faced by the people of area in the parliament and other forums.

A couple of days ago, Nawaz Sharif suggested a unilateral withdrawal of Pakistan Army from Siachen, asking Pakistan to take the lead and withdraw its troops.

He advised both Pakistan and India to climb down from the icy battlefield, resolve the festering dispute and then spend the billions of rupees they would save on the welfare of their impoverished people.
