US teaching military officers about war against Islam

In what appeared to be a severe blow for the Muslims, the US military taught its future leaders that a war against the world’s Muslims would be necessary to protect America from Islamic terrorists, BBC reported on Friday.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, has called it totally objectionable, directing for an investigation against a course about Islam taught at one of the American’s top military schools.

The news was broken by Wired, which had said that the American military was teaching its future leaders that a total war was needed to counter the 1.4 Muslims around the world.

The voluntary course aimed at senior officers was taught at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia, for a year. It was stopped last month after one student complained.

It considered options including using the lessons of Hiroshima to wipe out whole cities at once, targeting the civilian population wherever required and possible nuclear attacks on the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.

It also claims that there was no concept of moderate Islam and that the whole religion should be considered an enemy against the Americans.

The Pentagon while confirming the course material said that the investigation report will be compiled by the end of this month. The investigation aims to find out why such a course was a part of the curriculum at the Defense Department’s Joint Forces Staff College.

General Dempsey stated that the course was against to their values of appreciation for religious freedom and cultural awareness, declaring it totally objectionable and academically irresponsible.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff recently ordered the entire U.S. military to scour its training material to make sure it doesn’t contain similarly hateful material, a process that is still ongoing.

The US military officer, who delivered the lectures, Army Lieutenant Colonel Matthew A Dooley, was suspended from teaching at the college, however, he wasn’t fired.

The officers who attended Dooley’s lectures, listening to the inciting course, have now moved into higher-level assignments throughout the US military.
