Sharp LC-LE745U: The 2012 LED HD 3D TV – Part 1

Sharp Corporation released a new 3D television, Sharp LC-LE745U, which is an upgrade to LC-LE640U, released earlier this year. The Japanese company has added the 3D functionality to the new set along with a number of other features.

The new television has WiFi, thinner bezel and a matte finish to its LED screen. The chassis is slimmer than 640U and it is even lighter. However, on the downside, the picture quality, that matters the most, is sloppy and leave a lot to be desired. 3D projection is sub-standard compared to the competition in the market.

There are a number of new features to the new television including apps like NetFlix and Vudu Movies. However, the interface of the software has not been changed and is slow in certain areas. Overall the price, at $1588, for the television set is high in comparison to the services it provides.

The active 3D glasses are not included in the package; separately they are available for $50 a pop.

The new television rests on a typical stand, but its thin structure gives it more oomph for the price paid. In this range, LE745U is a very attractive decoration piece that augments the living room.

The new television is available in the same denominations of size, 60-inch and 70-inch, however, the company has now included 3D that was absent in 640U. Despite the inclusion of 3D, which is sloppy at best, the new set does not even come close to 2011 model that earned good reviews from several experts all around the world.

The structure, surprisingly, is made of actual metal with brushed finish, but the corners have permanently fixed plastic bumpers that give an odd feeling to the overall shape of the set. But that is not the bummer compared to what is waiting for you inside.
