Manmohan Singh ready to visit Pakistan; hopes the visit will bring good results

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said today that he is ready to visit Pakistan. He also expressed the hopes that his visit would bring good results for the two countries.

It, however, remains unclear whether this recent statement by the Indian Prime Minister relates to the invitations extended by President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani earlier this year.

If Singh visits, this will give a push to Indo-Pak relationships towards positive direction and will help the peace process between the two countries to take peace. Such visits will also help in removing the gaps that emerged between
the two countries after the Mumbai attack in November 2008.

Interestingly, the announcement has come on a day when a secretary level talk session is going on between the two countries in New Delhi where key topics including terrorism and Kashmir are being discussed in details.

During the discussions, both the countries have agreed to increase the people-to-people contacts and enhance the friendly engagements.
