Vladimir Ivanov tames Yu Hsien Lin in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at US Open GP Gold

Vladimir Ivanov, the top shuttler of Russia, proved his elevated skills as he powered his way into Men’s Singles top-eight stage after crushing Yu Hsien Lin of Chinese Taipei in round-of-16 clash at the US Open GP Gold 2012 at Los Angeles, USA, on July 4,
2012.

Ivanov, who was third seeded player in the tournament, remained consistent in his impressive performance and ousted his rival Yu Hsien in a fabulous fashion by taking just 35 minutes of court time.

The third seeded Russian worked hard in the opening set and clinched it with a tight score. Nonetheless, he found a wonderful flow in the second game and easily grabbed it to end the match in straight sets with an impressive margin on the board.

Yu Hsien, in the meantime, could not play elevated badminton as he failed to show his class at the crucial moments in the match and eventually bowed down to his higher ranked Russian opponent with a decent margin.

Both shuttlers put up tremendous show in the opening part of first game which was the best fights of the day. They grabbed the attention of local crowd with their attacking play and remained close on the board.

The lower ranked Yu Hsien gave a tough fight to his higher ranked opponent and remained close on the board until 8-8.

At this stage, the Russian played with precision by taking the bird early and took a reasonable lead of 11-8 until the break.

After the mid-game interval, the Taipei man geared up his speed and made the score levelled by reaching at 11-11 on the board.

From this stage onwards, both men progressed equally on the board and reached at 19-19 when the Russian showed his class and took the game with a tight score of 21-19.

Yu Hsien again played positive and attacking badminton in the opening rallies of second game and remained stick to his higher ranked Russian opponent until the one-minute interval.

However, Ivanov became aggressive after the interval and dictated the pace of rallies by taking the bird early.

The higher ranked Russian was in tremendous position at the ending stage of second game and he grabbed it with a tremendous margin of 21-14.

The higher ranked Ivanov emerged as the winner against Yu Hsien in straight games with a decent 21-19 and 21-14 margin on the score board.
