Infoblox, data network automation equipment makers, have taken Microsoft directly in words. In terms of market share, Infoblox might be playing David vs. Goliath but its products are quite impressive to cater to the contemporary requirements.

The company made its initial public offering this April due mainly to the reason that its market share is increasing exponentially. Microsoft, on the other hand, offers Windows Server operating system for networking solutions on corporate level.

Those who have used Infoblox equipment have made their fixed choice on the company’s apparatus, which is a convenient and is also cost-effective. Windows Server is  rather a generic product in front of Infoblox devices.

Infoblox equipment prominently automates the networking of different devices and allows IP addresses to all the client devices on its own. With this equipment, the client company does not need a full-fledge IT department dedicated to assigning IPs to peripherals.

The equipment costs where in the neighbourhood of $8000 on average and its targeted at large corporations that have countless connected devices. It can assign network routes to internal websites, smartphones, PCs, printers, vending machines, cash registers or any device connected to corporate networks.

“Three or fours years ago, it was about connecting routers and switches and infrastructure stuff to networks,” told Infoblox CEO Robert Thomas. “Now everyone is connecting their iPad, their iPhone.

“In smart buildings, door locks, light fixtures, air-conditioning systems, and security cameras are getting IP addresses. Everything is getting connected to the network, and it’s getting much more complex. So homegrown tools, custom stuff can’t keep up.”

The equipment that is involved in the assignment of DNS (dynamic name system) and DHCP (dynamic host configuration protocol), and IPs comprises DDI automated networking market and according to Gartner analyst Lawrence Orans it is a growth market segment. He states that DDI is expected to grow its revenue by 29 percent to $380 Million this year.
