Renowned scientist and founder of the Pakistan’s nuclear technology, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has said a big change was inevitable to save the country from collapse, urging the people of Pakistan to join hands with him to make the country prosperous.

Speaking to a gathering of Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), the scientist said reelecting the current leadership and providing them with another chance to rule meant more frustration and disarray for the nation.

Khan observed, “The people of Pakistan should join hands with him to save the country instead of becoming jiyalas. There was no up to the mark leadership in the country and even PTI chairman Imran Khan was not good enough to bring a change in the country”.

In his view, the common man had no hope for a better future, adding that nobody including much-hyped the former cricketer is a ray of hope for the masses.

He noted, “Apparently there seems no hope that any leader could resolve problems facing the nation and this situation has compelled me to play my part at the age of 76”.

Commenting about Imran Khan, the nuclear scientist said the PTI chief and Shireen Mazari had visited his residence when court removed restrictions on his movement.

He said, “I advised Imran Khan to formulate a good policy and engage other politicians as well. Perhaps my advice did not sound good to them”.

When he was asked about his comments about PML-N leadership, he said Nawaz Sharif should immediately expel his incompetent advisers, adding that he should give party tickets to clean and honest leaders to contest the upcoming general polls.

He reiterated his stance about the 1998 nuclear explosions saying that Nawaz Sharif had been under immense international pressure against conducting nuclear tests.

He further said that the former premier decided to conduct nuclear tests only after thorough consultations with different stakeholders.

Criticizing the PPP government for showing disobedience to the Supreme Court rulings, the nuclear scientist said that all educated and civilized societies accept and implement courts’ rulings.
