Brendan Rodgers believes Philippe Coutinho will get even better – football news

Liverpool FC tactician, Brendan Rodgers, believes that the Brazilian footballer, Philippe Coutinho, skills will improve further after he displayed spectacular football skills against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.

The Reds crushed poor Wigan at their home ground with a 4-0 victory and stayed alive for the race to qualify for European competition.

The 20-year-old set up the opener two minutes from the start of the match. He assisted Stewart Downing to take Liverpool 1-0 up. After this Luis Suarez went berserk and scored a hattrick. Coutinho set up another goal to assist Suarez towards his hattrick.

The former Inter Milan midfielder scored a goal against Swansea City two weeks ago which was his first start.

Rodgers reflected about the Brazilian in an interview to the Liverpoolfc.com:

“He’s adapted and fit in very well. He’s a very talented young player who is a wonderful technician. Tactically, he participates in the game well and understands this way of working and playing. He created two goals with two assists against Wigan and was very impressive. He’s still getting his fitness – he’s up to 65/70 minutes now but as each day goes by he’s getting stronger. So far, he’s shown to be a very good signing for us.”

Suarez on the other hand improved to 28 goals in his 38 appearances for Liverpool. He is currently on top of Barclays Premier League scorers chart. The Reds boss commented:

“He was incredible – you run out of the superlatives for this guy. Three goals at a difficult place to come is a great credit to Luis and the team.”

Liverpool will next take on Tottenham Hotspurs at Anfield this weekend. They are currently on fire as they crippled Swansea 5-0 and overpowered Zenit St. Petersburg 3-1.
