Subotic: Dortmund did well against Malaga

The Serbia international was happy with his side’s draw against the La Liga club as he feels they have a good chance of progressing to the semi finals of the Champions League

Borussia Dortmund star Neven Subotic believes the reigning German champions got a good result in Spain after drawing 0-0 with Malaga in the UEFA Champions League game. However, the Bundesliga side missed a lot of scoring opportunities in the first leg, but the Serbian is hopeful of qualification to the next round.

“Coming under so much pressure, at this stage of the competition, in an away game, plus playing as we have done for the last couple years – that is something to be proud of,” Subotic told the official Uefa website.

“We are a young team. For most of us it is our first time getting this far. But we want more. We want a goal and it is in our hands because all we have to do is win the home game,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.

“Malaga did not make it easy for us at all. They are a good team. Just look at the first half, they put in a huge effort, they defended well – this is a good side which plays quality football,” he added.

“I am sure that if we put in at least the same effort again in the second leg then we will create sufficient chances to score a goal,” he mused.

“Obviously, we are very happy to have reached this far and equally happy about the performance Wednesday,” he finally concluded.

Subotic claimed that they coped well with the pressure of the competition especially in an away match. He further added that he is proud of the achievements of the Black Yellows in the last few years.
