Chairman PTI, Mr. Imran Khan, arrived at the Supreme Court Friday to appear before the judges in a contempt of court notice.

Accompanying with his lawyer, Hamid Khan and several leaders, the PTI chief did not talk to the media persons and entered the court room.

“I will speak if i am called to the rostrum,” he said in a brief comment when asked by reporters whether he will speak inside the court room.

Khan was summoned over his remarks about election rigging this week. He said it is strongly believed that the Election Commission of Pakistan and the judiciary were behind the alleged rigging.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Wednesday took notice of Khan’s remarks and had summoned him on August 2nd.

The Chief Justice took notice on the note of Registrar based on press clippings of different newspapers containing the speeches/remarks of the Chairman, PTI Mr. Imran Khan, a court statement said.

“These remarks are fairly critical and very derogatory as regards the Judiciary/judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan,” it said.

The note further stated that as per details, while holding press conference on 26.7.2013, he stated that the role of judiciary and Election Commission of Pakistan is shameful in the conduct of General Elections; that the elections were rigged, due to role played by these two institutions.

Khan added that the General Elections 2013 were the worst in terms of rigging and mismanagement. He went on to state that he wants to ensure that no such like shameful elections are held in the future. He also stated that the PTI has accepted election results, but not election rigging.

The PTI Chief had earlier hinted not to apologize in the apex court but said he will explain his position.

The security guards deployed outside the main entry gate of the Supreme Court building did not allow the PTI spokesman, Dr Shireen Mazari and former Balochistan Chief Minister, Aslam Raisani, as they did not have passes to enter the building.

Raisani said he has come to the court to express solidarity with Imran Khan.

Dozens of PTI supporters gathered at the party office at the Embassy Road who later marched towards the court. They were chanting slogans in favour of Imran Khan.
