PTI stages a protest rally at Parade Avenue in Islamabad against the drone strikes

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) staged a protest rally at the Parade Avenue in Islamabad against the drone strikes yesterday on October 28, 2011 and it was addressed by the Chairman PTI, Imran Khan.

It was an anti-government and an anti-US rally which was staged in the capital city of Pakistan and the focal point was to bring a change in the government so that it takes a step to stop the drone strikes
in tribal areas.

There were thousands in attendance in front of the parliament house where the PTI Chairman Imran Khan claimed government is involved in all the drone strikes. Khan remarked a lot of innocent people die
due to drone strikes and still the government is not taking any necessary measures to stop them.

While speaking on his inclusion, Khan said, “Drone attacks kill innocent people including women and children and are carried out with the government’s complicity.”

Khan insisted politicians always criticize drone attacks but actually these attacks are happening with their own consent. Khan added the current politicians have no concerns with whatever happens to the
country in terms of sovereignty or integrity, as he thinks the government fears a suspension of financial aid and that’s why they don’t want any contradiction with the Americans.

Khan added, “Our politicians condemn drone strikes in public statements but seek their (US) support to remain in power in private meetings with American officials.”

“Government officials do not hesitate to mortgage the country’s sovereignty and integrity for the sake of aid.”

Imran Khan was also against the military operation that is being carried out in FATA, as Khan reckons a lot of “Innocent people have also been killed in military operations.” Khan said issues can be resolved
through negotiations instead of blood shedding.

Most of the PTI enthusiastic activists were seen carrying placards and were raising slogans against the government and the United States.

Imran Khan is now coming to the University of Punjab in Lahore tomorrow on Sunday October 30, 2011 where already 50, 000 chairs have been placed. A majority of people especially the youth is wants Khan
to be the next president of Pakistan. Therefore, there will certainly be a huge crowd in at the venue tomorrow.
