Ra One successful in Pakistan as well despite a few weaknesses

Just like in India, Shahrukh Khan’s latest science fiction flick Ra One was much awaited in Pakistan and the fans have turned out in big numbers to see the film in cinemas.

The movie was released in 3D and is all set to become one of the biggest blockbusters in the Bollywood history. It had got off to a terrific start and the producers aim to continue earning in big numbers in the coming days.

According to Nandu Ahuja from Eros International Media Ltd, “Ra One released to packed houses across the country on Diwali day and has already created history by taking over the mantle of the biggest domestic earner so far. The film continues to be on its
record breaking spree with several new achievements since its release. It has touched the highest individual collection in circuits such as Mumbai, Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan.”

Nandu further added, “We see repeat viewings of the movie with the 3-D version being equally sought after. With the Eid holiday also coming up next week and no other major film release; we are anticipating the film to continue doing huge numbers.”

This claim might be correct, as cinemas in Pakistan are already witnessing audiences in big numbers. With the Eid holidays coming, the trend is likely to continue in the same way.

However, there are a few negative aspects of the movie which might result in a dip in its popularity.

The biggest drawback of Ra One seems to be the comedy sequences, which should not have been there in the movie. It should have simply been a science fiction/action flick, as the cheap comedy was not required at all.

Apart from that, the movie seemed so much predictable, as the script was weak. To be honest, it appeared to be written in a hurry. The storyline should have been given importance, but the producers seemed to have focused only on the special effects.

One more negative was the late entry of Arjun Rampal, who really brought intensity in the film. He acted brilliantly and looked dashing in the role of villain. His action sequences with Shahrukh were also superb.

All in all, the film was not bad and liked by the audiences in Pakistan. It is learnt that the producers are also planning a sequel of Ra One, which is a positive sign. However, they should focus on the script more next time in order to earn respect amongst
critics.
