Geo – Get a Life!

Pakistan’s most watched channel Geo News is the leading news channel that sensationalizes news in its typical charisma; they have been doing this since 2002. Pakistani audience just like ‘masla and mirchi’ and never care for the
real impact of news on our new generation or rather any and every citizen.

They started their campaign with a positive frame of mind and portrayed the real news for their viewers. Slowly and gradually they built their audience and now everyone in Pakistan (especially people above 30’s) watch this channel
throughout their spare time to get a know-how of what’s happening in this poor country.

Geo News started to portray the real image of our government and forwarded the right message to their viewers but since the advent of Indian channels in Pakistan, Geo has been depicting news in a similar glamorized and sensationalized
manner. They started this when Jamia Hafsa case erupted and they showed dead bodies and blood all over the place, coupled with video clips that showed army officials throwing grenades and explicit scenes that were unbearable to watch – bodies placed flat on
ground all over the place and it seemed like a cameo role of some Hollywood masterpiece.

Kids watching and growing up in such an atmosphere have taken this in a wrong perspective and they are not to be blamed because that is what they see and do in the streets, home and school. They are prone to fighting and pimping
at such a young age and it cannot be rectified as this is what the media portrays.

Geo Super claims to be a Pakistani channel but it doesn’t broadcast Pak matches, instead, they show matches of India and England. What is that all about? You cry in front of Pakistani audience when you coverage is blocked as well
as banned but you don’t show that crowd what they actually want to see! Such hypocrisy is unbearable!

Recently they aired on their channel the news of the cricketing trio being sentenced to jail and instead of consolidating their family at this difficult time, they actually approached them and questioned Mohammad Aamir’s mother
as to how she feels after the judge sentenced him? Seriously, is this the time to ask a mom of a 19-year-old, who sacrificed her life to ensure her son’s successful career?

Another thing that is NOT ‘kewl’ is showing Indian movie clips in between serious news. If some politician’s car is lifted than this news has nothing to do with an Indian movie ‘Singham’ so stop this nonsense and don’t spoil our
nation with this immature attitude and explicit screening of every news. Thank you…!
