PSO hires a new Managing Director – Oil and gas sector update

SLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Friday designated Naeem Yahya Mir as MD of Pakistan State Oil (PSO), changing Performing MD Jehangir Shah, as part of a thought out restructuring of oil and gas organizations, says the Excellent Minister`s Home.

A professional in refinery planning and control, engineering assistance, promotion and advertising and process and problem fixing, Mir was designated after the Secretary of state for Oil and Natural Options sent a conclusion to Gilani, suggesting titles
of three people such as Mir, Wasi Khan and Irfan.

Earlier, 11 people had thought to be appeared before a visit panel. Of these, Mir got the best remarks and was on top of the shortlisted people. The ministry suggested Mir for the PSO MD post as he met all circumstances set by the authorities.

Sources informed our reporters that before asserting the visit the prime minister conducted interviews with two people; Mir and Wasi Khan, who has practical knowledge of working in Bosicor oil refinery. The third selection, Irfan, did not turn up.

In the face of endless inter-corporate debt, Mir will be experiencing the challenging process of handling oil and gas promotion and advertising campaign, which has been compromised by financial restrictions and he will be experiencing problems on oil supply
across the country. Power organizations have never made frequent bills to PSO, which have built up to Rs 176 million.

Under the restructuring travel, the authorities have already designated new heads of Sui Southern Gas Organization, Sui South Gas Sewer lines Limited, Pakistan Oil Limited, Pak Arabic Refinery Organization and Government Holdings Private Limited.

An ideal person for the job of md of Oil and Gas Development Organization (OGDC) has not been found yet. The visit panel, govern by Oil Reverend Asim Hussain, has determined to re-advertise the post.

On another note, Yousuf Raza Gilani designated A Riaz Asher Siddiqui as ceo of the Widespread Service Account (USF) with immediate impact.

Siddiqui is an experienced professional in the area of telephony. He has practical knowledge of business enterprise development, company strategizing and venture control software, says the PM Home in an argument.
