Windows 8 due to release in 2012

Following the success of Windows 7, the Microsoft is set to release a new version of its operating system in 2012. The Microsoft Window 8 version will hit the shelves in the New Year. The next version will have many changes from the previous versions. The
upcoming version of Windows will be equipped with plenty of new features such as new Start Screen interface, support for ARM microprocessors, touch screen input, and many more.

Steve Ballmer, the Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft confirmed about the release of next version of its Windows operating system. Earlier this year, he attended the developer’s conference in Japan and stated: "We’re obviously hard at work on the next
version of Windows. As we look forward to the next generation of Windows systems, which will come out next year, there’s a whole lot more coming.”

The preview version of Windows 8 has already been released in the month of September, 2011. The beta version of Windows 8 included different tools for building "metro style apps", such as Microsoft Windows SDK for Metro style apps, Microsoft Visual Studio
11 Express for Windows 8 Developer Preview and Microsoft Expression Blend 5 Developer Preview. According to the company statistics, more than 500,000 downloads of the preview version were recorded in the first 12 hours of its release. Now finally the wait
will be over and computer users will get their hands on the new improved edition of Windows. Below are some of the prominent features of the new operating system.

Windows 8 Features

  • The new version of Window will offer a new login interface, which will allows users to sketch in 3 different places over the picture instead of typing the password. This feature is somehow similar to unlocking Android phones
  • Windows Explorer will have ribbon interface (set of toolbars)
  • It will have the ability to support multiple monitors that will show different background pictures on each display and modify taskbars on each of the connected displays
  • New version of Task Manager
