What is really PTI’s Change?

The credit certainly goes to Imran Khan, the cricket-turned politician, who provided an option than dynastic politics and has triggered the educated lot of youngsters. Among them most of the youth was growingly becoming pessimistic about the practical politics
and would not bother to get heeled as voters.

However, the availability of third option led to all sorts of aspirants to make a way for the Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. The party has opened its doors to everybody, running after the figure of the 1000 candidates, for the next general elections.

The PTI would have amassed enough power by the time elections are announced but it is not clear thus far how much it will comprise of unhealthy chubby.

A couple of developments are expected to be done by the new entrants in the party. Some of the heavyweights might grab key party posts with wider media exposure and can replace experienced and somewhat proficient old timers. Such a situation can lead the
party towards internal strife.

Secondly, a few eminent turncoats are likely to bring their weird traits and customary mindsets with them in the party. Some people are also calling it an old win in a new bottle.

Imran Khan would do well to learn from what befell to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) under Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto after an intransigent feudal lot dazed by his successes packed his party having contradicted it earlier.

‘The Mirage of Power’, a book written by Dr. Mubashar Hasan will guide him in quite a better way how the PPP devolved under the dominance of these retrogressive factors. A great politician failed to change the mindsets of bureaucrats.

It was Imran’s allure that forced thousands to attend the gathering in Kasur in which former foreign minister Khursheed Kasuri joined hands with him. However, he would have done well to comment on the chaos that happened at the ending of the rally and gathering.

The incident depicted that Imran’s attraction done little to rally if any party worker is perceived to be disconnected with the masses.

The entry of a former politician, who has a tremendous record in the politics, might collect negative points for the party that is said to bring a change in the country.

Reliance on clan and tribal chief is no guarantee to win the elections, as tribalism is on the decline. It will, indeed, raises objections regarding Imran Khan’s promising change.
