The technology has undoubtedly paced up in the recent decades and its not only limited to personal computing but the defence systems have taken big strides as well. There are a number of new inventions and innovations that have grabbed public by a surprise.

There are numerous gadgets that the government and corporate sector loves. However, the naïve public has been taking iPad as the biggest invention of last decade. The reality is that there are inventions in the clutches of corporate and government sectors
that the technology which is in the use of general public is nothing but old school tech.

Following are some of the inventions and innovations that can keep the public awake at night should they know the reality.

1. Terminator-Like Robot

Recently Boston Dynamics have developed a new Petman Robot, an anthropomorphic bot that is man like and is more like a ‘cyborg’. The main purpose of this terminator is to test the chemical suits for the laboratory, experimental work and in quarantine situations.

However, this half man half bot is one step behind being issued a gun on his arm as its physique is quite quick for manoeuvrability.  Therefore, one the military gets a hand on this thing they will be more than happy in throwing it in the ranks of foot soldiers.

Already remote control airplanes are working for the NATO and US Air Force on regular basis in the Western part of Pakistan.

2. Internet Kill-Switch

The internet has become mandatory in the day-to-day activities of users, especially in the West. Moreover, since the advent of smartphones, especially iPhone and tablets like iPad, mobile computing has become one of necessities of life in the West and the
US.

However, the US government seems to ignore the importance of such facility in the country and for some unknown or untold reasons, the Congress and the Senate has agreed to an audacious bill, to give the US president to disconnect the internet in case of
a cyberemergency, like the one that was depicted in Die Hard 4.0.

Now it’s a thing to ponder whether the president has a team to disconnect the internet from public use or there is a switch that will be used to kill the internet from the ISPs.
