Things that Microsoft should address before bombarding the market with Windows 8 – Part 3

3. The dearth of developers for Windows 8
The Metro interface, though is only limited to start menu, calls for more applications to keep stuck to the interface. However, there is a dearth of such apps and the OS might face the same fate as WP 7 that has been underdog in market because of dominance of iOS and Android in applications.
This is eminent for Windows 8 to develop more applications for Metro interface as it will be the only the interface that will be used as a tablet.
4. Devs in the scarcity, more should be attracted
Over the years, Apple and Google have attracted more developers than anybody could ever imagine. There are two kinds of application developers in the market who are earning money, those who develop applications for iOS and Android and those who are into ERPs.
Windows still has the same and slow market going on as it was in the early 2000s.
Last, but not least, Windows developers will need rewrite their Metro apps for the more traditional Windows-style desktop. Oh, and they’ll also need to build them for both x86 and ARM platforms. That’s a heck of a lot of work to do without a lot of time to do it in. Put it all together and I see little chance about Windows 8 having many mature, ready-to-run applications come launch day.
