Dereck Chisora: I regret everything I said; I would never shoot David Haye

Former British heavyweight champion, Dereck Chisora, had threatened to ‘physically shoot David Haye’ after he was hit by Haye with a bottle in their fight, which took place in Munich in the immediate post-fight press conference of Chisora’s twelve round unanimous decision defeat to the current WBC heavyweight champion, Vitali Klitschko. However, Chisora has now apologised for whatever he said to his rival.

Chisora, who is more commonly known as Del Boy, told the media Haye, former WBA heavyweight champion, tried to steal his show and when he said him to say everything on his face, he started fighting him. Chisora admitted he threatened to shoot Haye but on the same note he insisted that whatever he said was just a brainwave and nothing else.

Chisora said, “David Haye tried to hijack my press conference, shouting at the Klitschkos.”

“The next thing I know is he punched me with a bottle in his hand. I tripped and fell and dragged Haye with me. I was asking him ‘are you serious?’ I was shouting ‘I am going to shoot you’ but I would never do that, I don’t have a gun, I don’t want a gun.”

He added, “I’ve known David for a while. I think he is a cool guy but the emotion of the night took us all in a direction none of us wanted to go in. I regret everything I said. I am sorry.”

Haye was not the only one with whom Chisora had a fight, as he previously slapped Vitali at their weigh-in and later on he spat water at Vitali’s younger brother, Wladimir Klitschko, the current WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO and Ring Magazine heavyweight champion.

Haye stated whatever he did was just an act of self-defence. Nevertheless, Chisora has been fined $100,000 of his 300,000-plus purse, which is currently frozen by the World Boxing Council. The Brit also has a British Boxing Board of Control hearing pending after which he may face a possible lifetime ban.

Well, all said and done, let’s see if WBC decides what for Dereck Chisora.
