Iran’s Hossein Vafaei Ayouri favourite for title: 2012 Seven-Nation Snooker Championship

Iran’s Hossein Vafaei Ayouri has reached Karachi to take part in the upcoming Jubilee Insurance sponsored 2012 Seven-Nation Snooker Championship at the Pearl Continental Hotel Karachi.
The Iranian potter is being considered one of the hot favourites to claim the championship title. The potters in the event have been placed in four groups.

Reigning World Amateur Snooker Champion, Ayouri, will be aiming to make his country proud after winning the championship that will commence from March 4, 2012. Meanwhile, the Pakistni
nation will be eying on Imran Shehzad and Muhammad Sajjad to make an impact in the event and bring back the title.

The event was a six-nation competition at first but later another country was added in the competitor nations. President Pakistan Billiard and Snooker Association (PBSA), Alamgir Shaikh
said that previously the event was to be a six-nation contest but with the inclusion of Bahrain the competition has been made seven-nation championship.

He added that the participating nations are now Pakistan, India, Iran, Thailand, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain. He also said that the total sponsorship is Rs. 3.5 million while the total expenses
are expected to be around Rs. 3.2 million. The winner will receive $2000 and the runners-up $1000.

A special prize of $100 will be given to the potter who pockets highest break of the tournament. Mr. Shaikh added that all the participants have been placed in four groups of five players.
There would be change in the formation of Pakistan team in case Indian players could not arrive here in time. In that case Sharjeel Mahmood and Vishin Gir of Pakistan would be dropped.

The placement of the players in their respective groups:

Group A: Hossein Vafaei Ayouri(Iran),Nippon Saengkhm(Thailand),Naveen Perwani(Pakistan),Hussain Mahmood (Bahrain), Sharjeel Mehmood( Pakistan).

Group B: Thepachaiy Unnooh(Thailand), Habib Subah ( Bahrain), M Sajjad( Pakistan),M Faisal Khan (India), Vishan Gir(Pakistan)

Group C: Vasin Merchant (India), M Al Jokar (UAE), Sultan Muhammad (Pakistan), M Ibrahim (Egypt), Sohail Shahzad (Pakistan)

Group D: M Mustafa Shehab (UAE), Yaser Ahmed M Elsherbiny (Egypt), M Asif(Pakistan), Syed Abooyesani (Iran), Abdul Sattar( Pakistan).
