Freddie Roach: We will get Floyd Mayweather junior and shut him up

Manny Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, has insisted that a clash between his man and Floyd Mayweather junior is what motivates him to stick around in the sport of boxing despite the effects of Parkinson disease and the Hall-of-Fame trainer is confident that one day people will get to see this dream-fight.

The undefeated American, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, including 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, challenged Pacquiao for a May 5 fight but his offer was turned down by the Filipino star after he said he will not have a 50/50 split with him.

Like many out there, Roach also thinks it was just another move from Mayweather to duck the fight.

“Well, I thought Mayweather was coming to the table, calling us out. He made a very bold move and then he knows how to protect himself with the 70/30 split,” Roach told Fighthype.

Roach, who is more commonly known as Master Roach, stressed Pacquiao has retirement plans on his mind but he is also in the sport for Mayweather since he wants to defeat him before he hangs up his gloves.

Mayweather, who thinks he is the biggest draw in the sport, has confirmed that he will not offer a 50/50 split to Pacquiao yet Roach believes he will find a way to catch him so that his fighter finally shuts him up.

“I want to train the best fighter in the world and the reason why I stay around is to get him ready for Mayweather when it does happen, and I’m sure that’s why Manny is still here also, because we feel it’s going to happen, we hope it’s going to happen, we’re going to do everything in our power to make it happen,” Roach continued. “You know, we might have to go give him more money or something just to get him in the ring, but you know what? We will get him some day and we will finally shut him up.”

Mayweather and Pacquiao are considered as the pound-for-pound best fighters in the world and a fight between these two boxing’s best will certainly do a lot good for the sport. So let’s hope it gets made.

Let’s be honest, as a competitive player, my gut tells me that Mayweather is scared of losing that 42 win streak, that’s why he’s doing everything he can to make sure he maintains his win streak, and in order for him to risk losing that win streak, it has to be financially worthwhile to assume that high risk. Since his entire career and existence is base on the promotional of him being “undefeated”, as soon as hes defeated, it may affect his revenue in future matches. Pacman on the other hand has never dodged any match and has 17 more games than Mayweather, are you saying that within those 17 games Mayweather wouldn’t lose once? Let’s be realistic now. Also as far as accomplishment goes, Mayweather is only 5 division while Pacman is 8 division with 38 knock outs while losing only 3 times while Mayweather has 26 knock outs.

Honestly I can’t see why PAcman would afraid of Mayweather, the guy has nothing to lose, he’s already got losses in his record and he’s never dodged an opponent and stepped up to the plate. In my opinion his track record has more weight than Mayweather. Mayweather has much more at stake and that’s exactly why he wants the bigger cut, to make it so that even if he lost and retired he’d win big financially. It’s really obvious. I used to b a Mayweather fan early on in his career, but I jumped ship after seeing him getting his head stuck up his ass.
