Malik Riaz met CJ when he was deposed: Says SC Registrar

Islamabad: (Tuesday, June 12, 2012) Supreme Court Registrar Faqir Hussain, following the press conference by the real estate tycoon and chief of the Bahria Town, Malik Riaz Hussain in Islamabad, said that Riaz had met with Chief
Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry during his deposition time.

Talking to the reporter of a private television channel, Hussain said that such meetings were held about two to three times and that during which he too was present. He said that the Chief Justice did not hold any meeting with
Malik Riaz after his restoration.

The Supreme Court Registrar further revealed that Riaz had proposed the Chief Justice to hold a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari. He said that the CJ had refused to meet the president with regard to his restoration as it
was inappropriate.

The registrar Supreme Court said this while responding to a question posed by Malik Riaz during a press conference here today.

In his press conference, Malik Riaz asked the CJ to reveal how many times they had held meetings in the darkness of night and was Arsalan Iftikhar and the SC Registrar not present during these meetings.
