Mozilla releases Firefox 14 with Flash support and other new features – Part 2

The new Firefox has a number of new features including support for the highly requested Adobe Flash. Many web browser developers have been articulating ways around the most used plug-in in the world but it has been proven down the run that it is irreplaceable. The seamless support for the Flash is one huge step in bringing a new web browser dedicated to web browsing on mobile devices.

Nightingale said that the Flash support was the most frequent request lodged by the users and the company was literally pushed hard to integrate it into the new version. It was not big of a task in Android 2.2 Froyo and 2.3 Gingerbread but Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was tough task though as the OS tows the same line as Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

The other reason for the inclusion of Flash was the presence of Flash on the web. Most of the high-traffic websites in the world have Flash-based content including YouTube. That is why Flash in a web browser is mandatory, unless there is another way around that can completely replace the plug-in.

In addition to Flash, the browser also has support for tap-to-play for plug-ins; Sync, a smooth and effortless in-page zoom; support for the Do Not Track header and add-ons; and excellent HTML5, CSS3 and hardware API support.

Though the new app offers more than what had been asked in quick, responsive way, it still lacks some of the extras that could have made it undoubtedly the best web browser in the world. Dolphin HD, a mobile web browser has support for intuitive multi-gestures and Opera is the best for slow, GPRS or non-3G web connections. Firefox still is on the thicker side of the stick when it comes to data plans.
