Visio CT14 (2012): Full Review of the company’s first computer – Part 2

The basic dimensions are 13.3×9.2 inches in width and length. With a 14-inch screen (diagonal) Visio has done the same thing as the well established company do, install a 14-inch screen in a 13-inch chassis. This increases the portability of the device.

On the other hand, there are a couple of throwbacks in the design. First of all, the keyboard is a major turnoff, of not a complete one. The retro-style keyboard wards off the island-style with sheer audacity but there is more to the unattractiveness, it is not backlit.

Then there is another input component that is amiss, the track pad. It has a design and an unresponsive ‘mood’ that is frustrating at times.

Features

As with all PCs, and Windows-based on that, they come with Windows 7 Home Premium preinstalled on them; the CT14 is not exception to the fact.

Vizio touts, as part of a partnership with Microsoft, a clean, bloatware-free operating system, without the usual preloaded software packages, advertising come-ons, and other annoying desktop detritus. It’s a shame that needs to be called out as a feature, when it should really be called “not screwing up the user experience in the first place.”

The major difference is always the hardware combination in the laptops and desktops as it is in cars. The best engine coupled with supercharger produces the best power efficiency. Joined with a productive gearbox, the whole combination is both powerful and fuel efficient.
