CJ deems rule of law essential for survival of the government

Karachi: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said here today that the rule of law was essential for survival of the government, assemblies and the democracy.

The chief justice said this while addressing the representatives of the Sindh Bar Council and other district bar councils at the Supreme Court’s Karachi registry.

Commenting on the deteriorated law and order situation in the country, the chief justice lamented that the lawyers and judges did not have protection and specific people were being targeted. He further said that law enforcement
agencies were not fulfilling their responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the representatives from the bar councils told the Chief Justice that they would continue to support and playing their role for the supremacy of law.
