Wang Shixian ousts Bae Yeon Ju in Women’s Singles quarter-final at Swiss Open 2013

China’s most experienced and former World Number One player Wang Shixian eased into Women’s Singles semi-final after punishing Korea’s Bae Yeon Ju in quarter-final battle of Swiss Open 2013 in Switzerland, on Friday, March 15.

The fourth seeded Shixian, who remained incredibly aggressive throughout the championship, continued playing with staggering speed and remained successful in thrashing the with seeded Yeon Ju in a commanding way by taking just 33 minutes.

Shixian started her campaign in an aggressive but controlled fashion and stayed on the driving seat throughout the battle. She easily showed exit to her lower ranked Korean challenger in straight sets with a striking margin of 21-7 and 21-12.

The lower ranked Yeon Ju could not produce better form in the arena as she was lazy in her movement and also failed to control the pace of rallies. She could not employ her powerful smashes and eventually went down without creating any trouble for her Chinese challenger.

In the opening set, the aggressive Shixian showed a tremendous performance on court as she executed strokes with remarkable variations from opening rallies.

Shixian showed that she has got top quality skills in the arena and eventually successful in taking a strong position in the arena. She did not show any sign of confusion as she remained in complete command of rallies until the end of first half.

The contest proceeded in the similar way after the mid-game interval as Shixian did not lose her commanding position in the arena.

Shixian remained consistent in employing powerful shots in targeted areas and eventually bagged the first set with a completely commanding difference of 21-7.

Things were identical in the second game of this entertaining match as the Chinese lady played in the similar aggressive way and also stayed positive in the arena.

Shixian entertained the crowd with her unparalleled skills that assisted her to put pressure on her opponent who failed to find positive run.

The higher ranked Chinese shuttler continued putting up comfortable performance in the ending part of second game and remained successful in securing the set with a superb 21-12 score on score board.

In the semi-final encounter of Swiss Open, Shixian will lock horns against India’s top seeded Saina Nehwal who easily won her quarter-final fight against Thailand’s Tai Tzu Ying.
