Asma Jehangir says will not accept caretaker role

Former President Supreme Court Bar Association Asma Jehangir Tuesday declined to accept the role of caretaker Chief Minister in Punjab.
The PPP had proposed Asma Jehangir in its list which also included Mian Amir, former Lahore mayor and a PML-Q leader. He also refused to accept the role. The PPP had also proposed the name of Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa.
Asma Jehangir told the media in Lahore t that the issue of caretaker setup should be resolved through consultations.
She regretfully declined taking any responsibility in the caretaker set up. She thanked the PPP and PML-N for proposing her name. She stressed the need for consensus on the caretaker set up.
The provincial legislature is scheduled to complete its term on April 9.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, Jahangir said the issue of caretaker setup should be resolved through consultations. She regretfully declined taking any responsibility in the caretaker set up.
The assemblies in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been dissolved however the Punjab and Sindh assemblies have not yet been dissolved.
Deadlock over the nomination of the caretaker Prime Minister continued between the PPP and PML-N and now sources said the issue may be referred to a parliamentary committee.
The Prime Minister has proposed four names for the committee which include Farooq Naek, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Ghulam Bilour and Syed Khurshid Shah.
The PML-N has also finalized four names. The names will be sent to the National Assembly’s secretariat. If the committee could not agree on a name then the final decision will be taken by the Chief Election Commissioner.

Very funny and unrealistic. Chotey Mian woke up after Imran’s sonami. Prior that he did nothing other than undoing Jobs done by Pervaiz Elahi. Go just 20 kms out of Lahore and feel the difference. People are dying due to lack of medicines as all the funds have been diverted to Lahore Metro bus service and that too only people living on one road are benefiting from his stupid project. Despite his poor performance it is well known for blindly following PML(N) just like another called Blithe. Unfortunately, such people are in majority in this country and it is due to this myopia that same people gets re-elected again and again. You either vote same parties because your forefathers used to be their supporter or because you do not see what issues Pakistan as country & we as a society are facing.
