Thursday, April 4th, 2013 10:06:21 by Tahir KhanMilitants fired rocket into Pakistan’s Kurram agency and injured two border security personnel early Thursday, officials said.
The rockers landed in Alizai sector of Lower Kurram Agency that was followed by a physical attack on Bhattai post, they said.
According to a security official‚ the security forces repulsed the attack and four attackers were killed.
Reports quoting official sources say that militants attacked the check post at 5:30 a.m. The attack lasted until 7:00 am and injured two security forces personnel.
Political agents said more than a dozen militants attacked the check post.
Cross-border attacks have recently caused tension between the two uneasy neighbours.
The military says that Pakistani Taliban who had fled following operations in the tribal regions and Swat valley have regrouped their fighters and routinely launch attacks on the border posts and villages.
Pakistan says that nearly 100 security men and villagers have been killed in 20 attacks from Afghan territory in one year.
Afghan security agents arrested Pakistani Taliban leader, Maulvi Fair Muhammad in eastern Ningarhar province last month.
Kabul has rejected Pakistan’s offer to hand over Faqir saying there is no bilateral agreement on exchanges of prisoners.
On the other hand the Afghan authorities claim that Pakistani forces fire rockets into parts of Kunar province. Pakistan says its forces target that locations from where the militants fire at Pakistani posts.
