‘Azerbaijan-Pakistan Youth Society’ Launched

Institute of Peace and Diplomacy (IPD) on Monday launched project entitled “Azerbaijan-Pakistan Youth Society” wherein universities and academic institutions of both countries would simultaneously create these youth forums in order to raise awareness and general understanding of each other.


As Azerbaijan-Pakistan relationship completes 20 years of cooperation, creation of Azerbaijan-Pakistan, this Youth Society is being proposed with intent to create a bridge between the two nations to come closer together through dialogue and understanding. As formal diplomatic ties already exists but the deep rooted people to people contact is missing which is need of the day to build as both nations have common culture, history and religion to share.


Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Dasghin Shikarov said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy deep rooted relations and these youth forums would help build the relations to new heights. He was of the view that youth are the assets of both states and by motivating this segment of the society will create a long-term avenues for cooperation between the countries. Although, we are enjoying deep rooted links at government to government level but this initiative will help boost people to people contacts at much further level. Recently we have also announced 36 need bases scholarships for the students of the consortium of 12 Pakistani universities as well. Pakistan and Azerbaijani youth are bonded through this platform to have shared objective of joining hands together and through this podium both nations would enhance their cooperation in various fields and at all levels.


Earlier, Faraht Asif, Executive Director, IPD, reflected on the objectives and mission of IPD is to provide strength to global peace through dialogue and diplomacy by sharing knowledge, research, analysis and policy development in the areas of, peace-diplomacy, peace-building, conflict resolution, conflict transformation and conflict management. The main objective of IPD is to provide neutral space to stakeholders to share ideas, exchange views, experiences, understanding of the issues through innovative research and practices world-wide. While speaking on the occasion, Asiya Mahar, President of Pakistan-Azerbaijan Youth Forum, Quaid-i-Azam University highlighted the contours of the whole initiative. She said that development and achievement of prosperity of youth in both states is our motivation behind creating these forums. Youth Society is the name of a whole that will comprise of parts called Youth Forums.
