Nawaz Sharif, Manmohan Singh face to face in first summit

Meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of UN General Assembly is underway in New York.

 

At arrival in the hall‚ the two Prime Ministers warmly shook hands before the meeting and introduced their delegations to each other.

 

It will be the first Prime Ministerial level contact between both countries in over three years’ time.

 

The two leaders are expected to discuss ways to normalize bilateral ties‚ resume composite dialogue on all outstanding issues including Kashmir‚ regional security‚ tension on Line of Control‚ terrorism and trade enhancement.

 

The Pakistani delegation include Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz‚ Finance Minister Ishaq Dar‚ Minister for Water and Power Khwaja Asif‚ Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi‚ Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani and Pakistan’s permanent representative in the United Nations Masood Khan.

 

The Indian delegation includes among others External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid‚ Indian National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon‚ and External Affairs Secretary Sajhatta Singh.

    These are talks about future yalks.

    It is a natter of give and take.

    India believes in Might is right, so there will be no give.

    Manmohan Singh as a Sikh will not give an inch on territory.

    Islamist agitators may agree to status quo on territory and a peaceful settlement !
