Khawaja Asif assures Pervez Khattak to resolve electricity issues

Federal Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Asif, met with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak, in Peshawar to discuss the electricity load shedding issues on Wednesday July 16, 2014. Khawaja Asif assured Pervez Khattak to resolve the electricity problems in three phases.  Pervez Khattak had threatened to shut down the electric supply to Punjab province earlier today while addressing a protest rally against the excessive load shedding in the  province.

Khawaja Asif assured KPK Chief Minister to resolve the electricity crisis in the province in three phases reported a local newspaper. The Water and Power Minister said that electric distribution system of the province is overloaded and will be upgraded in the first phase. In the second phase, KPK will start receiving the electricity supply according to the allocated provincial quota. In the third phase, the federal government will pay the province  outstanding balance in account of electricity.

Khwaja Asif also assured that the federal government  will implement all the hydro-power schemes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also said that federal government will pay the province Rs68 million in account of levy canal and Rs 7 billion of electricity profit in next month.

The Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said during the meeting that he hopes federal government will resolve the problems of financial crisis and electric power shortages as soon as possible.

Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan, Chief Executive PESCO Tariq Saddozai and WAPDA officials were also present in the meeting.
