Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) have announced extending their ultimatum for 24 hours on the request of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif this Thursday August 28, 2014. Nawaz Sharif had requested General Raheel Sharif for mediation between the protesting parties and the government during their meeting in Islamabad.

Dr Tahirul Qadri asked his supporters if they allow him to extend the deadline by 24 hours on the request of the Army Chief. Dr Qadri then said that he is giving 24 hours to government for talks on their demands.

Imran Khan also announced to postpone his deadline to announce his new course of action for further 24 hours due to contact by General Raheel Sharif for mediation.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had told reporters earlier that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had asked General Raheel Sharif to play mediation role to diffuse the political tension in the country.

PTI and PAT have gathered their supporters in Islamabad outside the Parliament House to protest against the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri had shut down the doors of negotiations with the government on Wednesday August 27, 2014 and announced to take extreme measures.
