The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesperson, known by the pseudonym Shahidullah Shahid, has reportedly been sacked and replaced, according to TTP’s website.

The man behind the pseudonym, Abu Omar Sheikh Maqbool has been removed from his position as the spokesperson, and the news has been made public because Sheikh Maqbool has allegedly been using the name despite his removal.

“Sheikh Maqbool is not Shahidullah Shahid,” the TTP statement clarified.

It is believed that Sheikh Maqbool and five other TTP commanders had already pledged allegiance to the Islamic State’s (IS) leader Abu Omar Al Baghdadi, and intended to quit TTP at the right moment.

The TTP statement, perhaps to reassure people of its integrity, also mentioned that the TTP leader, Mulla Fazlullah remained pledged to Mullah Mohammad Omar, the leader of the Afghan Taliban.

The emergence of the Islamic State has led to disintegration of the Taliban militant outfits, as more and more militants and commanders move to the Islamic State, which is gaining traction day by day.

It is reported that Sheikh Maqbool fled North Waziristan after the Pakistan army started the Zarb-i-Azb mission earlier this year.

The TTP statement also shared that the new spokesperson’s name will be revealed in the days to come.
