China’s Eyes On Pakistan As Prospective Market

In a visit to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Tuesday, a delegation of Chinese investors representing different companies displayed their desire to explore Pakistan’s steel, energy, cement and several other sectors for investment and mutual ventures.

Members of the entourage consisting of representatives of Zonergy Company Limited, Hebei Weilang Import and Export Group Co. Limited, admitted that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) had grown a lot of attention among Chinese investors and the reason for their visit was to analyze the potential of the Pakistani market for investment and collaboration.

The Zonergy Company representative mentioned that his company’s major business area covered the entire cloud-computing industry chain, Research and Development (R&D) of Solar PV technology and project contracting, R&D of bio-energy, of energy saving and system services, palm cultivation and oil processing trade.

Zonergy saw Pakistan as a possible country to invest in and for Joint Ventures (JVs).

Hebei Weilang Import and Export Group is a huge professional cooperation involved in manufacturing bicycles and offering about 100 kinds of products in 10 classes, especially BMXs, frames, forks, BB axles, front and rear axles, brake cables and baskets to clients in Europe, US, Australia, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and several other areas. The Group has a desire in forming a bicycle plant in Pakistan.

ICCI Acting President Sheikh Pervez Ahmed, speaking at the occasion, stated that China possessed wonderful expertise and advanced technology and the Chinese companies should take advantage of the incentives offered them by the government.

He further encouraged Chinese investors to make good use of investment-friendly policies by the present regime by promoting investment and joint ventures in Pakistan.
