Sunny Leone’s body not reason behind her casting in Jism 2, says Mahesh Bhatt

Famous Bollywood filmmaker, Mahesh Bhatt has clarified that it was not Sunny Leone’s body that pushed him to cast the actress in his upcoming project, Jism 2 – the sequel of his blockbuster movie released in 2003.

Sunny is a porn star who shot into limelight following his participation in the fifth season of the popular TV reality show, Bigg Boss. After being impressed by her nice acting on the TV screen, the big man decided to offer her the lead role in his upcoming
film, Jism 2.

Since the actress has an attractive body, there were many rumours circulating in the media that the veteran filmmaker picked up Sunny due to her hourglass figure.

However, the film producer is adamant that the loneliness and heartbroken soul behind Sunny’s smile urged him to give the actress a chance to show her magic on the big screen.

"I am not casting her for her body, but I see that loneliness and heartbroken soul that is behind that smile. The entertainment business itself is not a cakewalk, so the porn business would have been a really tough ride for her," Bhatt told IANS on phone
from Mumbai.

"I love casting people who are real. People who have gone through highs and lows to reach a stature where people look up to them for their hard work. Sunny is being shown in a bright light with an exotic image on television, but I sensed that she must have
gone through a lot to earn a name in an industry which people don’t appreciate," added the 61-year-old.

‘Jism’ was an unexpected box office hit which made debutants John Abraham and Bipasha Basu – the two well known faces in the Hindi film industry.

Before breaking into the Bigg Boss house, Sunny appeared in number of reality shows in America. A few days ago, Bhatt used the reality show as a platform to announce his new flick and casted Sunny as the heroine. He feels that her emotional ‘edge’ would
play a key role in the success of ‘Jism 2’.

"’Jism 2′ narrates the story of a woman who transcends from the ‘body’ to the ‘soul’. I see Sunny as a perfect fit for the film and the script,” he added.
