PM terms US Congress resolution on Balochistan against Pakistan’s sovereignty

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that the resolution in the US Congress about Balochistan was against the solidarity of Pakistan.

He was speaking to inaugural ceremony of the three berths at Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and afterwards talking to the journalists on Saturday. KPT reconstructed these berths with the cost of Rs 8.38 billion.

He said that Iran Pakistan gas pipeline project would be implemented as the energy requirement of the country could not be ignored in any case. Pakistan is desirous to have good relations with all neighboring countries including India for the strengthening of the region.

Responding a question Prime Minister said that Dr Shakil Afridi, who indicated the presence of Osama in Abbottabad, would be dealt in accordance with the law.  Replying another question he said that the government took the decision of preventing NATO supplies, vacating Shamsi Air Base and not taking part in Bon Conference in Pakistan’s national interest.

He said that due to global inflation and price in international market, the government had to enhance the petroleum prices; however Speaker National Assembly has constituted a committee to review the prices of petroleum products.

Earlier while talking to the ceremony , PM  said that with the addition of  912 meter long and 60 meter wide berths, KPT can not only facilitate the ships to anchor there but also become the source of bringing foreign exchange.

He said that it heartening to note that KPT, PNSC and Port Qasim have earned the profit of Rs 18 billion during current financial year, when many other government department have become white elephant and burden on economy.

He said that sea transit has a sheet anchor role in the development of trade and this is very reason that government is paying full heed on ports. He said that Pakistan is the gateway of Central Asia.

Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Federal Minister Babar Khan Ghuri, Special Advisor Dr Asim Hussain, Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Khoro, MNAs, MPAs and high officials were also present on the occasion.
