In two separate incidents in Deraa and Homs, 23 people including nine women and three children have been killed

Fighting between Bashar Al-Assad’s forces and the rebel forces has left seventeen people dead in the Southern Syrian city of Deraa. The incident happened this Friday. Among those seventeen victims were nine women and three children who lost their lives when
a shell hit a residential area of the city.

In another bastion of revolt, two neighbourhoods in the city of Homs were heavily shelled which resulted in six civilian deaths according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the main source of information about the toll of deaths since the beginning
of the uprising against Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad some fifteen months ago.

The capital of Damascus has been relatively untouched by this upheaval but its residents heard explosions after intense fighting between rebels and President Assad’s loyalists.

UN observers who visited the village of Al-Mazrat Koubeir on Friday, were presented by the Syrian rebels, the scene of another massacre. However, the observers have been unable to confirm any information regarding to the traces of massacre and signs of Syrian
force’s presence in some homes.

The opposition claims that as many as 78 people were murdered near Hama on Wednesday.

Traces of armour are visible in the neighbourhood and some houses have been damaged by rockets fired from tanks, grenades and other weapons. And, it is only the Syrian Army that has tanks and weapons of such capabilities.

“Inside some houses, blood was visible on the walls and on the ground. Fires are still burning and there was a strong smell of burning flesh. The circumstances of this attack are still unclear,” said the statement.
