Nawaz and Imran assured their support for the US: Munter

Karachi: (Tuesday, July 10, 2012) Cameron Munter, the US Ambassador to Pakistan said in an interview to BBC Urdu that he had met with both Nawaz and Imran Khan, and both of them assured that they support the United States.

Talking about the bilateral relations between Pakistan and the US, Munter said that the talks between the two countries did not end the restoration of the NATO supplies.

He said there still some serious work needs to be done in economic development and eliminating terrorism. He added, “Pakistan needs to be part of the solution not the problem.”

The US Ambassador to Pakistan was of the view that the NATO supply blockade had isolated Pakistan from 50 friendly countries and the resumption had opened the doors for further cooperation.

He also said that the issue of expenses was not part of the negotiations to resume the supply routes.
