Asad Rauf, the Pakistani cricket-turned-umpire, has categorically denied having any relationship with Indian model Leena Kapoor, saying that pictures appeared on media are real.

Earlier, an Indian model had accused the Pakistani umpire of exploiting her after promising to marry her.

The umpire, however, rejected the charges saying that the model forced him into recommending her for the TV reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ as he has good connections in the Indian film industry.

He clarified, “But, the show’s organizers said that they do not accept entries via recommendations/references, so I ended contact with her [Kapoor]”.

The umpire rejected the claims, saying the Indian model was leveling charges against him to gain cheap publicity and that it was a move to defame Pakistan. The model had taken pictures with him as a fan, he added.

He said they meet a number of fans and people in the show business and people request him for pictures and they oblige.

It was a personal matter and he had been told the same by the International Cricket Council (ICC), adding that he will pay a visit to India in January 2013.

Leena Kapoor, in her written complaint to a local Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), had reported that she had met Asad Rauf in Sri Lanka a few months back. “We spent a few days together”, she added.

She had alleged that the umpire told her he would marry her and would also get her an apartment. She said that he did disclose his marital status and the fact that he had children but added that religion allowed him to have more than one wife.

According to the complaint, the two met after that many times, including during the Indian Premiere League (IPL), after which he had, when asked about marriage, said that it would happen soon.

It added, “When she called him a few days ago, he (umpire) did not respond and around five days back, he refused to have any future interactions, allegedly saying he did not know her”.

According to the Indian media, the DCP office confirmed the receipt of a letter saying they would launch an inquiry into the matter.
