After ruling the computer industry for nearly three decades, the makers of legendary Macintosh computer, Apple, Inc., are expected to venture into a new dimension of electronics. After the release of Apple TV, a digital receiver for television sets, the
electronics maestros are anticipated to invade the television manufacturing industry.

The Apple TV was released in 2010 based on Mac OS X but was substantially upgraded to iOS 5 in 2011. The device is a set-top box for digital television transmission over the internet. It surely set another trend for internet television viewing. After the
advent of Apple TV, many other television manufacturers started to produce TV sets with integrated set-top boxes like Sony and Google TV.

However, Apple did not seem content with a mere digital receiver and through different resources it has come to knowledge that the company is ready to dive into the competitive television market.

The resources hinted that it was originally late Steve Jobs’ idea to start a new venture in the television industry. And when it comes to Jobs, the basic feature of his products is the ease of use and perfection.

He was quoted in his biography by Walter Isaacson: “I’d like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use. It would be seamlessly synched with all of your devices and with iCloud.”

Further iterating his claim on the product, he said: “No longer would users have to fiddle with complex remotes for DVD players and cable channels. It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. ‘I finally cracked it.’”

It is speculated that the new TV-set will use body gestures as remote-controls, the same feature that is anticipated to be integrated into the iPad 3 and iPhone 5 in 2012. Needless to say, the appliance will be a super LED and it might also incorporate Apple’s
signature Retina Display.

The main features of the set-up will be iTunes, Apple Store, You Tube, Netflix and a host of online TV channels in addition to full internet browsing. The iCloud feature will enable the users to share their videos and TV clipping on the internet with their
friends and family.

The new television, expected to be named iTV, will however, not surface in the market any time sooner. It is expected that CEO Tim Cook will stage its launch in last quarter of 2012 for its release to the market in 2013.
