11.11.11: receives poor Box Office reception

Darren Lynn Bousman brings a horror thriller ‘11.11.11’ which hit the theatres on 11th November, 2011. Despite its amazing title and the matching release date, the movie failed to live its hype and received poor ratings.

After directing multiple Saw movies, Bousman planned to go solo by writing and directing 11.11.11. The movie centres on a famed author Joseph Crone (starred by Timothy Gibbs) who travels from America to Barcelona, Spain after the tragic death of his wife
and child. He reunites with his estranged brother Samuel (Michael Landes) and dying father, Richard (Denis Rafter). However, fate chose a different path for the American author who become plagued with constant sightings of the number eleven and mysterious
happenings.

Joseph soon realizes that 11/11/11 is more than just a date, it’s a warning. He realizes that eleven number holds horrific meaning not only to him but to all religion.

Regardless of an interesting concept, this 90 minute horror flick had many flaws and received poor reviews.

Review Aggregator from the site Rotten Tomatoes gave an average rating of 3.8 out of 10 with twenty percent of people liking it.

The Hollywood reporter stated, “Bland genre offering does nothing to put an ominous spin on an intriguing date.”

IMDB site gave a rating of 4.5 out of 10 from its 1934 users and its fourteen critics.

“If only "11-11-11" had arrived a little closer to Thanksgiving – the turkey connection would have been entirely appropriate,” The Los Angeles Times reported.

Adding further to the bad reviews, Common Sense Media topped it all by stating, “Supposedly timely horror movie is dull, meaningless.”

Overall, the low budgeted 11.11.11 is slow and boring and is unlikely to make impact on the box office. The Scares are fairly mild overall with only a few ghosts and ghouls who look like people dressed in Halloween Gear. Few character dies and the language
is infrequent as well.

However, the movie isn’t gory in the slightest, there’s no nudity, it’s a flick that plays some serious cards and indeed has the power to unnerve you if you can get into it.  It touches some sensitive religious issues as well and a twist in the end made
it more exciting. Thus your money won’t be drained and it’s a good way to have a get together with your friends and family.
