The worst tablet ventures of 2011 – Part 1

There have been many tablets introduced in the market over the span of two years, since the release of original iPad. Not all of them have seen success among customers of any demographics. Google has been generous in handing out the Android operating system
to every whatnot in the market.

However, it is not everybody’s task to develop something that strikes to market with a boom. Many of the tablets introduced this year have seen no or little success at best. Some of the tablets developed by renowned companies like HP and Dell have been a
failure in the market as well.

HP had to withdraw their efforts from the webOS project and now it’s in the open market for developers to make it better software. Dell’s Android-powered Streak 5 and 7 were not as big success as tech gurus had picked up.

Fortunately, these tablets were not the worst products in the market. For a tablet to become a success, there are three things that should be given the foremost priority. One, the structure has to be handy because a tablet is all about mobility and handling.
Second, the display has to bright and the resolution should have thick pixel density in addition to a wider viewing angle. The third and most important part is the app market; in this case, Google Appstore, should be available on the native network.

The following are some of the worst tablets that did not pan out this year or one reason or the other. Price is not the issue here because all of the below mentioned are low-priced devices but they compromised on the performance.

1. Pandigital SuperNova

The tablet was released earlier this year but could not receive a warm response from the customers or tech gurus for a number of reasons.

Although it had a comfortable hold and a firm chassis and also accompanied USB, HDMI ports on either side, there were other factors that refrained customers from making a bid on it.

The tablet is LCD backlit, which has even lower backlight as compared to its peers. The resolution is stretched to great lengths that make the images and e-books a little blurry. The overall feel of the device is quite plasticky, which is a big flaw in it.

There is not native access to the Google market for applications. The web browser has to be used to download anything like Google Maps, as it is also absent.
