The worst tablet ventures of 2011 – Part 2

2. Velocity Micro Cruz T301

The tablet boasts Android operating system version 2.2 (Froyo) and a 7-inch display, which is quite an impressive offer for $136 but other factors have been eclipsed in the making.

There is not Google Market application and many of other basic applications are also missing. However, the main reason why this device could not strike the market with a bang was its resolution.

Tablets are mainly the best alternative to traditional book reading and Micro Cruz’s resolution has been wrapped quite a bit. The pixels can easily be differentiated in this low priced tab. Where the Retina Display is in the making for Apple’s flagship iPad,
low resolution might not be the best way to cater the market.

Moreover, the tablet is quite big in thickness and weight.

3. ViewSonic ViewPad 10

The company has been a huge success in desktop LCD display consoles of all kinds and it is unfathomable why it could not mirror the same success in the tablet market.

Although it houses Android 2.2 and can also run Windows 7 on the fast processor but overall built is bulky and lacks the oomph which is mandatory for a mobile device.

It lacks volume controls and the screen orientation to use it in vertical or horizontal position. The screen resolution is a disappointment for ViewSonic, who have ruled the PC-desktop world over the last one decade.

Android market is missing in the slate and there is a lot of time and effort required to figure out the network troubleshooting.

For $510, the device is also pricy whether it can run two or too many operating systems at one time.
