CIA to resume drone strikes in Pakistan soon

While the media and people of Pakistan is busy discussing the Memogate scandal, formation of two new provinces and the return of former President and retired Chief f Army Staff Pervez Musharraf, the governments and intelligence agencies of both America and
Pakistan are working out a deal that will allow Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to resume its drone campaign in the tribal areas of Pakistan, including North and South Waziristan, with the intended motivation of preventing the al-Qaeda militants from regrouping
and emerging as a formidable threat.

According to sources, the new deal will limit the frequency and intensity of the attacks carried out by the unmanned air-craft that is being considered as one of the most effective tool to target and wipe out the al-Qaeda militants in the region.

The fresh terms of engagement is being deemed as a significant effort to mend ties between the two countries. The wide rift had been created between the American and Pakistani security agencies and army ever since NATO forces conducted an air-strike operation
on Pakistani border posts in the Mohmand agency on November 26, 2011, which resulted in a loss of more than two dozen Pakistan soldiers.

The incident was followed by a strong backlash from both the Pakistani nation and army, who accused NATO of intentionally targeting the Pakistani border.

America’s refusal to accept the responsibility for the incident and issuance of an apology further aggravated the tension between the two countries. One of the most significant step taken by Pakistan is the suspension of NATO supply lines, which have presented
the NATO army with a fresh stock of problems.

The American government and army have been holding talks with the Pakistani officials for quite some time now and it seems that a decision has been reached after a long discussion.

The new terms dictated by Pakistan state that the intensity and frequency of the drone strikes should be significantly less than that in 2010 and 2011.  It also stated that the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) has advised box-formation to narrow the strip
that is being targeted.

According to the official, the public will react strongly to the new deal that is expected to be set by the officials of both the country in due time. Drone strikes do provide a tactful advantage to battle al-Qaeda militants, but the missiles are also a
cause of much devastation in the country’s modern counties.

What was the point in closing Shamsi Air base if the Pakistani Army wanted the Drone Attacks?
