Parliament to take decision on NATO ties: Kayani

Rawalpindi: (Monday, February 13, 2012) Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said today that Parliament was to decide on the terms on which Pakistan would like to have ties with America and Nato.

Having Chief of Air Staff Rao Qamar Suleman by his side, Kayani told the journalists at Jacobabad Airbase that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had told him that Parliament was working on the line of action to be adopted while
resuming ties with America and Nato. He said whatever the parliament will decide; the army will stick by it.

Talking about Pakistan army’s operation in the tribal belt, Gen Kayani maintained that they were trying their best to use the least brute force and weapons in those areas so as to minimize the public causalities.

Expressing his views on the occasion, air Chief Rao Qamar made it clear that there was nothing installed in the US F-16 that could contain the Pak Air Force from using these very planes against American warplanes.

Rao Qamar also clarified that the Shahbaz Airbase was now in complete control of Pakistan.
