Not playing will cost us, says Pakistan coach Zavisa Milosavljevic

Pakistan National team boss Zavisa Milosavljevic believes that a lack of International game time will hamper his side’s development into a formidable force.

The PFF failed to secure opponents for the upcoming friendly date on the 29th February, leaving the Green-Shirts without the opportunity to test their mettle against top quality opposition.

Milosavljevic, who took charge last November improved the team quite a lot in the SAFF Cup, but will be without International action when the FIFA Match day comes around and the Serbian tactician was keen to voice his concern that a lack of game time would
cost his side.

Speaking to reporters, the former Lesotho coach said that he would consider asking the Serbian side to play Pakistan but he would not be able to effectively steer the team unless there was regular action at International level.

“Since no country is available to play with Pakistan, I’m thinking about asking the Serbian team to play the friendly matches. I can only do my job if the team plays international matches because the domestic structure in Pakistan is so poor that I can’t
rely on it to implement my plans for the side.”

He also added that without exposure he would not be able to judge the performance of his players and that needed game time in order to prepare for the U-22 AFC qualifiers.

“I need to see these players in international matches in order to gauge their progress. I’m extremely concerned about the lack of international exposure before the Asian Football Confederation under-22 Cup Qualifiers in June and July.”

Lastly, he also added that even seniors in the squad had to improve, so that’s why he was going ahead with the planned schedule, as opponents for the friendlies could still be found.

“Even senior players in the national team need to improve their technique, so I’m going ahead with the camp. The PFF has told me that it’s still trying to cut a deal with different countries for the friendly series and I want the players to be in shape in
case it does take place.”
