Lashing out at America, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the United States should force India to stop barbarities in Indian administered Kashmir rather than interfering in the internal matter of Pakistan.

Fazlur Rehman, who is also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, released the statement at a time when an Indian parliamentary delegation is paying a visit to Pakistan.

The JUI-F chief observed, “Why is America silent over the killings of Kashmiris, even though Jammu & Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory. America is discussing Balochistan in its parliamentary hearings, although, it is an integral part of Pakistan. It is clearly interference in the internal matters of Pakistan”.

He further stated, “We support the Kashmiri’s cause but don’t support terrorism in the region. Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory according to international laws but Balochistan is an integral part of the Pakistan and debate on Balochistan in US House is absolutely wrong”.

He informed that the fundamental human rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir were being denied since 1947.

In the meantime, he appreciated a report by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Observer Margrat Sakagaya on Indian administered Kashmir, urging the UN and the international community to pressure India into stopping violation of human rights by Indian security forces.

The UNHRC Observer has confirmed the inhumanities India was obtruding on the hapless Kashmiris, he added saying there could not be a more authentic document on this issue and terming it a test case for the UN.

In his view the US has accused Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai to please India, while he was projecting the Kashmir cause. India has been killing Kashmiris since 1947; however, he said the world powers were playing role of silent spectators.

He, at the same time, urged the country’s political leadership to address the reservations of the Kashmiri leadership. The people from the Kashmir had always safeguarded Pakistan’s interests and that they never wanted the country to sacrifice its interests for their sake, he added.

Fazlur Rehman emphasized on good relations with India, saying that all issues needed to be addressed through meaningful dialogues.
