Prime Minister shows commitment to give rights to Balochistan

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that the recommendations of the parliamentary committee regarding normalization of ties with the US and NATO supplies would be tabled in the joint sitting of the parliament after Senate elections.

While addressing a press conference at Prime Minister House, the premier said Pakistan wants to maintain relations with USA on equality and common interest basis.

He said that Baloch are patriotic people, who rendered a lot of sacrifices for Pakistan that should be recognized. Removing their apprehensions is the responsibility of the government at it would fulfill at every cost.

“We would convene All Parties Conference after giving rights to the Baloch people and stopping the sequence of mutilated dead bodies there. Consultation about Baluchistan is in the process and it would be called, as it would be completed”, he added.

Responding a question, Gilani told the journalists that the mater regarding extension of DG ISI has not reached yet in his office, when the time would come, the government would see the issue. He said that Pakistan is not a carrot that people would swallow it after cutting it into pieces. The entire nation exists only due to the country.

He said that Pakistan neither wants any interference in Afghanistan nor let use its land against any country. Pakistan has adopted a multi-prong strategy to solve Afghanistan issue.

He said that consultation about Baluchistan is in the process and it would be called, as it would be completed. “We think that military operation is not the solution of any proble. Afghan issue might be resolved through dialogue”, he added.

The Prime Minister said that the opposition guides the government and it cannot go in right direction without opposition. The government would not carry out any deed, which gives opposition an opportunity to complain.

He said that the government wants to resolve all the problems faced by the country and it has ability to do so.

He said that people know all the facts about the shortfall of electricity and even then they come on the road to protest. PPP government has added 3500 megawatts electricity in national grid.  It is the shortage of Rs 50 billion regarding circular debt, which would be resolved before budget.

The primer said that to cater the energy needs of the country, negotiations about bringing gas are underway with Iran and Qatar and the government would make any decision by keeping national interests in view. In this matter, no dictation would be accepted from any quarter.
