Balochistan Chief Minister says secession to compound problem

Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani has said he believes in dialogue for resolving the issues being faced by the province, saying that an independent Balochistan will never be able to survive an unrestrained.

Talking to European Union Ambassador to Pakistan Lars-Gunner Wigemark, the Chief Minister stated that there was possibility of a civil war breaking out in the province if efforts were made for Balochistan`s separation.

He further stated that they had a long coast, an important sea port and precious minerals and the entire world was eyeing their resources, but they were confident that they could mobilise their
commenting on the foreign interference to destabilise Balochistan.

He asserted that the there were verified reports of foreign interference in the current situation of the province saying, “We believe in dialogue to resolve the issue of the province”.

He observed, “However, we are sure of overcoming the situation at last through our sincere and concerted efforts and dialogue”.

In his view those who have moved on the mountains had not responded positively as they were not ready to talk less than independence.

If God forbid Balochistan is separated then there would be a destructive civil war here in the province which would be harmful particularly for its people, he added.

The CM was of the opinion that the dialogue was essential for bringing improvement in the province, but the course of dialogue were impeded when some elements were not agreed upon speaking less than separation.

He confirmed that the CM noted that the federal government has decided to imitate dialogue from the highest level in the province for the purpose.

Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi and he himself being chief of the province would play vital role in bring the estranged people on the dialogue table.

Raisani pointed out that in Balochistan every Sardar and Nawab (tribal chieftains) have their own respective territory and no one is dependent over any one and it would be just impossible to maintain law and order and routine life in case of the separation.

About the missing persons’ issue, the chief minister mentioned that there were few such names among the missing people who were present in Afghanistan or doing business in Dubai.

He also sought the role of European Union in bringing peace in the region as he referred to the issue of Kashmir.
