Marvel’s The Avengers shatters Box Office records

Directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel’s The Avengers broke several records at the US Box Office. With an ensemble cast of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, the movie was able to gross $250
million in shortest period of time. 

The Avengers bagged $270 million from the US Box Office in a week from 4,349 theatres. In addition to this, the flick earned $533.3 million from the rest of the world, summing up a total of $803 million. 

Nick Fury (played by Jackson) of S.H.I.E.L.D, an international peace keeping agency, brings together a tandem of super humans including the likes of Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye to form the Avengers. Their
mission is to protect the Earth from Loki (starred by Hiddleston) and his army.

The $220 million budgeted blockbuster movie received 93 per cent Certified Fresh rating at the review aggregator site, Rotten Tomatoes. It’s general consensus states, “With a script that never forgets its heroes’ humanity and no shortage of superpowered
set pieces, The Avengers lives up to its hype — and raises the bar for Marvel at the movies.”

Christopher Orr of The Atlantic praised the movie by stating, “Ultimately, it all comes back to Whedon: His clear vision for each character and how they might be profitably intermingled; his unexpected knack for action choreography; his funny, tender, immaculately
constructed script.” 

IMDB gave it a score of 8.8 out of 10 from its 146,280 users. However, Meta Critic gave it a rating of 69 out of 100 based on 43 reviews.  

Overall, Marvel’s The Avengers is a MUST watch for all genre.
